With Techno Chicks, Max Leinfelder created an ironically playful homage to club culture and gender issues: Chicks in eccentric techno outfits floated from the ceiling on heavy iron chains and, after purchase, could be freed from the hook with large bolt cutters—an act that oscillated between performance and possession. The installation was accompanied by a specially produced song about a transsexual rooster, composed with DJ Phake. The exhibition, realized in cooperation with the Panama Open Air Festival, transformed the space into a hybrid between underground club, gallery, and curious chicken farm—danceable, tongue-in-cheek, and unmistakably Leinfelder.
